Support and pricing

The software is free. The commitment is what you buy.

Bobi.Studio is not sold, it is downloaded. What is invoiced is the time between you and a chain in service, and the commitment to put it back on its feet when it falls over.

Four tiers

The first one is free and will stay that way. The next ones buy guaranteed response times, then scope.

These four tiers are a starting proposal, not a catalogue. Cover, response times, scope, price: all of it is open. Tell us how you operate and what matters to you, and we will build the contract that answers it — including ad-hoc on-call cover outside these hours.

Indicative prices, excluding VAT and travel expenses. Only a quotation is binding. A request is a call for help or a change: a blocking incident is never counted against it, and falls under the response times above. A cluster means one installation operated from a single controller, redundancy included; the Enterprise tier covers several of them under a single contract, priced on the number of clusters and nodes.

The design office

BOB has been designing broadcast infrastructures since 2011.

Bobi.Studio is published by BOBI SAS (opens in a new tab), a subsidiary of BOB — Boîte à Outils Broadcast (opens in a new tab), a broadcast design office founded in 2011. BOB has been designing and deploying ST 2110 infrastructures for ten years, on real production installations.

That history explains the shape of the product: the orchestrator was written by the people who deploy these plants, for chains that already existed, with their own constraints of clocking, multicast, cards and panels. It does not ask the infrastructure to adapt to it.

  1. Network architecture

Media plane, control plane, container segment, multicast plan and PTP domain.

  2. Hardware selection and qualification

Servers, network cards, GPUs, RDMA cards.

  3. Sizing

Number of nodes, isolated cores, memory bandwidth, based on the flows and formats you have to sustain.

  4. Deployment and acceptance

From a bare machine to a first end-to-end chain, with a written validation campaign.

  5. Training and handover

So that day-to-day operation does not depend on us.

Services

Billed by the day, because no two installations ask for the same work.

A sizing study takes half a day when the chain fits on one node and the network is already specified. It takes three days when the existing equipment has to be surveyed and checked for what it actually supports, a multicast plan drawn up, and the design fitted to a broadcast controller you did not choose. A single fixed price would therefore be either too expensive for small installations or unsustainable for large ones. We bill by the day, and the range is given in writing after a first conversation, free and without commitment.

Rates
Engineering€950 per day · Study, commissioning, audit, bespoke development.
Training€1,400 per day · On site or remote, six people maximum, on your own installation.
Pre-qualified nodeon quotation · A server delivered assembled, with a validated network card, a prepared host and measured, guaranteed performance. You are not buying a server, you are buying the setup time it saves you.
Observed durations
Sizing study0.5 to 3 days · Half a day for a chain on a single node, with the network already specified. Two to three days as soon as the existing equipment has to be surveyed and checked for what it supports, the multicast plan drawn up, and the design fitted to the devices and controllers already in service. Delivered in writing, and deducted from commissioning if ordered within six months.
Commissioning2 to 10 days · Host preparation, media network, clocking, a first end-to-end chain, acceptance and handover. Two days is enough on a small installation.
Taking over an existing installation1 to 3 days · Audit of a plant already built, gap analysis, remediation plan.
Bespoke developmentpriced after scoping · A processing function that does not exist yet, a protocol integration specific to your chain, an adaptation to your production workflow.

What stays free

Without this, the free licence would only be an argument.

  1. No withheld features

There is no crippled edition. The public repository holds the ST 2110 engine, the plugins, the integration services and high availability. A contract opens no extra door inside the software.

  2. No keys, no limits

No licence to activate, no ceiling on nodes, flows or users, and no telemetry reporting back to us.

  3. All the documentation

Infrastructure and installation guides, the node-agent contract, high availability, the changelog. Versioned with the code and readable before you buy anything.

  4. The right to leave

The code is under GPL v3. If the contract ends, the installation keeps running and you keep everything, including the right to have it maintained elsewhere.

Tell us what you have to put on air.

The number of flows, the formats, the positions to serve and the operating window are enough to price it. The rest is a conversation.
